Models are hugely detailed for an RTS, physics implemented impressively and so on. But relevantly, it's a functional sort of beauty (or - er - viscerality).”10/10 –“Company of Heroes should be on the must-play list of every RTS fanatic out there, even those tired of WWII settings.
It's just that good.”9.6/10 –“The transformation from a idyllic little town into a heap of crushed buildings and burned out husks of vehicles can be shocking. Seeing and hearing major explosions that cause bodies (and bits of bodies) to fly across the screen along with rubble from a nearby building simply puts you more into the battle than any RTS in memory.”9.4/10 –. I know this is probably a FAQ, but I'd like to hear your guys' opinion with the current sales and recent game updates.I really enjoy WW2 games, Heroes and Generals, for example, and strategy games, like Civ5. I'm hoping to pick up this game as it seems like a really good balance of both. I have a fairly potato pc, Dell Inspiron 17, so graphically the quality doesn't have to be high. But I would certainly love to expierence a beautiful game on decent fps if possible.Which version should I get + extionsion packs are worth it?
Jun 25, 2013 Company of Heroes 2 is an entertaining strategy game that excels when it pulls out all the stops. Jun 25, 2013 6:19pm.
I'd recommend Company of Heroes 1 + mods. The modding community is still alive even after all these years.CoH 2 is a bit more resource heavy, and somehow i prefer the unit models and vibes of CoH 1. CoH 1 looks more. Gritty.Gameplay wise, CoH 1 has been around for a very long time (since 2006) and thus very balanced. CoH 2, on the other hand. Well, you can check CoH 2 forums personally. However, if you're looking for online play, CoH 2 is your best bet since it is newer, thus has a lot more players. Some of the great CoH 1 mods:-Blitzkrieg Mod = For 'realism' and a lot of improvements and additions to the existing factions.-Eastern Front = Adds 2 new factions, Ostheer and Soviet (which pretty much makes it CoH 2 without the extra bells and whistles).-Europe at War = Personally haven't tried this yet but i heard it's very good, plus it has new campaigns.
I'm planning to download it. Ny warriors taekwondo camp. I just bought COH2 a few days ago. I play COH1 for several years now. Here is my opinion:- Graphics: not all that different. Especially since I downloaded and use 'Close to historical skins' which include hd textures for COH1.- COH1 runs smooth on max settings on my rig.- COH2 not so much: I have to turn down several options and tweak things to get it running smoothly and still making it look good - that's a draw-back for me.- Campaign: COH1 is pretty accurate I think. All dlc it follows the liberation of Europe pretty close.- Campaign COH2: just played the Stalingrad map: it seems accurate.- Atmosphere: in COH1 I care much more about my troops. I can see them leveling etc.
And I watch out for them. In COH not so much: troops are meat. But that is what it was like for the Russian soldiers: they actually were meat to die for the motherland.I like the admosphere in COH1 a bit better.- Menu: the game menu in COH1 is much cleaner.
In COH2 i find the menu a bit messy.- Multiplayer of both games is still very much alive.Pro for COH2:I like to bind different squads together and assign them a quick number. In COH1 you have to remember which squad you gave which number: it is NOT vissible in the squad-tag.In COH2 it is vissible: much easier to identify the correct squad.Verdict:If I were to buy my first COH-game I would go for COH1 with all dlc.I bought COH2 to make the experience complete, but only bought it because it was on sale.
